Overcoming Faith Christian Center

What does the name mean?

The new center for our ministries is entitled "Overcoming Faith Christian Center." This name draws its meaning from 1 John 5:3-4, which says, “This is love for God: to obey his commands. And his commands are not burdensome,  for everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith” (NIV; emphasis added). Overcoming Faith Christian Center will be a place for those interested in developing the kind of Christian faith that overcomes in every area of life—in one's spiritual life, in one's family, in one's finances, in one's community, and in one's world.

In the fall of 2004, construction began on phase one of our new facilities, located in Arlington, Texas at I-287 and Eden Road. By the spring of 2006, Phase one was complete.

For a general overview of our new facilities and for a description of the ministry's long-term vision, please click here.

"And all the people gave a great shout of praise to the LORD, because the foundation of the house of the LORD was laid" (Ezra 3:11b NIV).

Phase One is a 72,000 sq. foot building with initial seating for over 1,400 people that includes a separate youth center, a cafe and bookstore, a secure nursery, a gym, and facilities for our K-12 school (St. Paul's Preparatory Academy).

Phase One Ribbon Cutting
A Day of Celebration
Our Ribbon Cutting Ceremony during the evening of April 2nd truly was a success. Beginning at 4:00 p.m., church members, along with Pastors Gene and Sue Lingerfelt, drove from our old location to our new location. We then held our Ribbon Cutting Ceremony with special guest Big John Hall. The weather was absolutely gorgeous, and it afforded us the opportunity to take a historic group photo. Tours were then given of the new facility, and then, we had our first service, during which Big John Hall sang and Dr. Lingerfelt delivered a special message.

The next month truly will be an exciting month with all of the special guests who will be visiting, so be sure not to miss any service.

The Completion of Phase One
Isaiah 54:2-4 says, "Enlarge the place of your tent, stretch your tent curtains wide, do not hold back; lengthen your cords, strengthen your stakes. For you will spread out to the right and to the left; your descendants will dispossess nations and settler in their desolate cities. 'Do not be afraid; you will not suffer shame. Do not fear disgrace; you will not be humiliated...'" (NIV).

The last two weeks have been very exciting. As church members, school parents, and visitors have visited and spent time at our building, all have displayed amazement and appreciation for God's goodness and His blessings. He has truly blessed us and we are excited that we have now moved into our new building.

The first day of school for St. Paul's was held on March 27th and that was also the day that all church employees began working in the new building as well. Each day things are becoming more settled but there is still a lot of activity on site. Workers are currently working on the phase one ball fields (softball and soccer), and other work is being done. The past two weeks have been especially busy and church employees and members have prepared for our ribbon cutting ceremony and first service.

We have posted a new gallery of photos taken over the course of the last few days, and after our ribbon cutting and first service, we will be sure to post photos from this special event as quickly as possible.

After our ribbon cutting on Sunday evening April 2nd, all church, school, and youth events will take place at the new building, and we will no longer have any activities whatsoever at our previous location, including 5:00 a.m. prayer.
